2000 Election Simulator

Who's the next President?
The Darin Gillis Florida Election Simulation

Well, it all comes down to the state of Florida. This java program is a chance to relive the event all over again, with a twist -- its not rigged, so either Bush or Gore could win (regardless of Jeb Bush's Wanderings) My simulation operates with an built in error factor, that will result in different winners of the election each time the page is freshly loaded. Note that the leader in each county has a red (Bush) or blue (Gore) square to represent his lead in that county.

The simulations works as such. There is a thread that ticks off the time (as an integer value) that the couting of votes has been going on for. Each county in Florida has a random number that responds to the speed at which each candidate's votes are counted. THE CATCH: Whenever both candidates votes get below 100 votes a piece, those votes are then DISCARDED. (Just dimpled ballots that weren't punched through the whole way) The winner is displayed in the text box when all 67 counties have reported.
The actual vote totals are made to be correct as of the last recount, but the added twist of thowing away the last 100 or so votes seems to changed the outcome of the election drastically. You to can "guess" who Florida's 25 electoral votes go to!!
