Nike + IPod = High Tech Workout

Check out this new invention that could be cool enough to make some weekend joggers start getting smarter about their workouts. The Nike + IPod Sport Kit takes the music of an iPod Nano and combines it data gathered from input data coming from a sensor installed in a new line of Nike shoes.

So the idea is simple, you use your iPod nano to listen to music while you're running - why can't the iPod be smart enough to log how far you've run, and even send inspirational messages to your headphones to keep you going? Who wouldn't respond to Lance Armstrong yelling in your ear to kick it up a notch?

Another cool feature, the 'power song' - you have one song configured to play whenever you press the center button to power you through that tough hill. The idea sounds super-cool to me, the only downside is that you need both a special pair of shoes from Nike and an iPod Nano (older iPod versions will not work). Bummer. But if I get an iPod nano sometime soon...
