Just got word from my globetrotting friend Chuck; a good friend of mine from Austin who just left travelling for more than a year. I wanted to post his online info for those who want to keep track of him.
I'm hoping to meet up with him somewhere along the line. He's in Europe until October or November, then he's going to pull out and hit Costa Rica and work his way down through South America. Freakin' guy...

What are YOU doing for memorial day weekend? I'm going with Claudia and many others up to Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Trying to get more people interested -- it's called the 'Grand Canyon' of Texas and it is a 7,8 hour drive from Austin up around Amarillo, TX!
More info:
Ping me if you're available and interested in coming along!

Barbaro is the magnificent horse that won the Kentucky Derby a month ago, and then tragically broke his leg in the Preakness race last week. The horse is still being watched very closely at the Large Animal Hospital in Pennsylvania. Check out the crazy rehab work and the number of pins they put into that back leg!

Read this news story, and watch the video there. OK so Ogden, Utah. A sleepy town, you figure. Well not for this guy. Check out this news report where people eventually raided his apartment to find -- over 70,000 emtpy beer cans in the apartment. He had lived there for 8 years, so that's over 20 beers a day. No prank, the guy actually just loved Coors Light. Poor fool, he could have recouped some of that money by recycling. sucka.

OK the pictures are finally ready, fully organized, cropped, commented and sorted. Whew. Please enjoy. I split up the photos into 2 albums: one covering the eclipse in Saloum, and one covering the time spent on the Nile checking out ancient Egypt.
New Photo and Video Album PostedFour and one-half minutes. We travelled 5600 miles to the Egypt-Libya border to witness four and one-half minutes of the moon passing between the earth and the sun such that it completely blocked out direct sunlight. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen and done -- I'm glad to have shared it with the best of friends!
New Photo and Video Album PostedThe second week of our Egypt trip: Visiting the mummy of King Tutankhamen (King Tut) himself, buying fake student IDs in Cairo, cruising for 3 days up the Nile, visiting ancient temples and pyramids, geocaching in the low mountains of the Sahara, bathing in the Red Sea, and of course washing it all down with some cold Stella brew.

New Photo Album PostedA teaser for the Egypt photos (maybe tonight?). Here are the pics from Madrid! 30 hours in Madrid? All sorts of fun can happen. Churros, geocaching, paella, and partying until 6am like a true madrileno!
