Viva Mexico y ella vida noche

Drunken blogging -- just got back from second night in mexico city. first night was out of control. Ricardo y Sylvia picked us gringos up from the airport and we headed to the Best Western where I am typing this from right now. We thlen split up girls vs. guys and went out for the night. Went to an upscale bar called ´don quiton´ where we got multiple bottles of tequila for our table(s) and watched the great bands do all sorts of great covers of american and spanish songs alike. fantastic time. ryan king is hooking up w/ mexicans all over the place. then we had a fantastic hot dog covered w/ jalejpenos and queso and ketchup and mustard and onions and it was fantastic if i didn´t say so before. from there, a little late night club action which was costly yet rewarding to both ryan and i before turning in at 6am.

ç

today was all about getting our crap together and sightseeing downtown en ´lan gran cuidad´ de mexico city. fantastic, great pictures were taken of the national cathedral, and templo mejor - the ancient aztec temple discovered underneath the buildings of downtown. from there, came back, took a fantastic nap, and headed out for the night. back to another ´don quinton´ (its a chain) where we drank tequilla and danced the night away. good times are being had by all. the future plans are to head out of town tomorrow and find the true aztec ruins (pyramids) and then ofcourse, the big wedding night for ricardo y syliva. that night will be a loooooooooooooong one -- the mariachi band isn´t even showing up until 230am. hopefully sunday i will rally (at least myself) for a little geocaching action and maybe even to a historic hillside castle named ´chapultepc´ -- i think anyway. goodnight world.

Garmin GPS Software Supported on Mac by end of 2006

This makes me happy. Finally the folks at Garmin will appease the Mac community. I was really frustrated to find out that my Mac couldn't run the software that installs the GPS maps down to my new Christmas present (my new eTrex Vista GPS). I went thru a ton of hoops trying to install Virtual PC on my mac in order to run the MapSource software that would install my maps -- but the installer would never run on the Virtual PC. What a pain. Anyway, looks like the end is in sight; too bad I have to wait until the end of 2006 (they have other procucts that will be mac-ready in spring 2006) but at least the mac versions might be ready by the time i take my Around The World Trip.

Corporate Lessons

Corporate Lesson 1

A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower when the doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour.

Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel."

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob.

After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?"

"It was Bob the next door neighbour," she replies.

"Great!" the husband says, "Did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?"

Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders, in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson 2

A minister offered a lift home to his office secretary after a long day's work.. She got in the car and crossed her legs, forcing her skirt to reveal a leg.

The minister nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand down to her leg.

The secretary said, "Pastor, remember Psalm 129?"

The minister removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide down to her leg again.

The secretary once again said, "Pastor, remember Psalm 129?"

The minister apologized "Sorry, but the flesh is weak."

Arriving at her home, the secretary got out of the car and went on her way.

On his arrival back at the church, the pastor rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek, further up you will find glory."

Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson 3

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and their manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I'll give each of you just one wish."

"Me first! Me first!" says the administration clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world."

Poof! She's gone.

"Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life."

Poof! He's gone.

"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch."

Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson 4

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day.

A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"

The crow answered: "Sure, why not."

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.

A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson 5

A wild turkey was chatting with a bull.

"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," the turkey sighed, but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.

He was soon spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there

My First Day Geocaching

Here's Scott and I, as we embark on a 5+ hour geocaching adventure. He has been three other times, so it takes some time to show me the ropes. But before long, we've found 2 our of the 4 'caches' we were hunting for and I was using the GPS unit to tell me the quickest way to drive home.

Want to know more about geocaching? Click here to go to the official geocaching website which directs the 'sport'. Here's the route (downloaded from the GPS unit itself) we travelled around austin over the course of the day:

Thanks Mom and Dad for the sweeeeeet Christmas present! I will try to make use of it!

Million Dollar Ideas

The Million Dollar Homepage.com. So some grad student got this idea to buy a webiste and sell each pixel on its front page for $1. He has 1 million pixels available. Currently he has sold 950,000 of them -- which implies that he has nearly made a million dollars from this little fad. Damn, I shoulda thought of that!
