In honor of me having horrible pet-death and family-death nightmares lately -- here's an article to lightens the mood:
Check out this 'top 50' list dictating the 'worst ways to die'. Also check out the top 10 'coolest ways to die' on that same page. May I not die on a toilet shot to death with my own gun, please god, I mean it.

This is hilarious (This is a real craigslist post -- I did not write it)
So its 230 Thursday night and my girlfriend tells me she is sleeping with a friend of mine! Not the thing you want to hear, especially from someone you are going to spend all day with Saturday.
So I sit around for a few minutes wondering how this could have happened, feeling dejected and hurt when it occurs to me, I shouldnt let this girl get to me. She's the one that screwed up. Why am I sitting around feeling bad when I should be seeking revenge sex. Now, I know when your girlfriend sleeps with one of your buddies, the imediate course of action is to have sex with her best friend. Well, this is just out of the question. So, considering the circumstances I think the next best thing is to sleep with the girl I am giving her ACL ticket to!
So here is what I propose. You come by, we'll chat a little, loosen up, have sex, and I will give you a free ACL ticket for Saturday. No obligations, no strings, just help me get back at the ex.

New Photo Album Posted
10 Days in Japan? Why not - I've never been to Asia. I have a friend living in Tokyo, let's make it happen! Well happen it did, and quite successfully I must add :) Sept 2-13th I was on vacation in Japan, and here are a ton of photos commemorating the event. From toilet confusion to japanese bathhouses to ancient temples to endless Lost in Translation references -- this trip stacked up to be just as interesting as all the others. Take a look!

I've come upon 2 3-Day ACL tickets (2005) that I'm trying to dish at face value ($110/piece). If anyone is interested let me know ASAP and I'll get em to you! Concert is going to rock -- check out the lineup
here
Hit me in AIM: (darin gillis) or phone (not-givin-it-to-ya) or email (d at jumphook.com)
Update: As the time of the event draws near, the price I am requesting for the ticket is dropping... Also know that projects of Rita show that it will miss Austin and head straight for Galveston/Houston, so the show WILL go on!

Here was the scene as seen on my cell phone camera last Wedenesday night! Foo Fighters and Weezer live in the Frank Erwin Center -- really freakin sweet show. I do not look as much like Dave Grohl as I thought. Weezer rocked after a slow start -- seen here is the lit up 'W' with wings that rose from the ground. Liz and I ended up right in the middle about 15 people back so had great spots. I coulda used a set of earplugs though... Foo fighters were definitely rockin the crowd, very, very loudly yikes :)

See the mysterious japanese rash. (link broken for some reason - check later)
Well, I'm posting this not to gross people out, or deter them from traveling; but as a helpful resource to fellow travellers coming back from Japan. Two different US doctors have 'never seen anything like it before' -- but apparently it is quite common to 'gaijin' (foreigners) travelling to Tokyo for an extended period of time. So this strange rash started to develop after 8 days in Tokyo on my arm -- small slightly red bumps that are quite itchy. Anyway, I got back state-side 2 days later, and the rash began to spread down my arm, to my side, and eventually all over my limbs and torso. Now it is 5,6 days since I have first seen it; and I'm a big ithcy mess. I was worried it was some kind of bedbug or scabies (eeeew), but my doctor diagnosed it as an unknown 'topical' allergy to something Japanese. My best guess right now is the laundry detergent used to wash my clothes or perhaps the pollution in the air. The only thing that has quenched the itch is some doctor-prescribed zyrtec. They also set me up with a round of steroids that will supposedly stop the rash from spreading and should have it clearing up in a couple of days. I'll contine to post comments on this entry and comment on how the steroids are working out, hope this helps someone!

I have a messy room and a happy life.
I pray for things that may or may not come to pass, but i am happy with the result nonetheless.
I am on an even emotional keel for the first time in a long time.
Supercalifragilistic-radical-freakin-yeah.
Body and spirit and heart are inline again.
The world is full of infinite possibilities again, whereas 2 weeks ago it was a closed set.
May the space and peace I feel in my soul be contagious for all my friends. (friends includes my family, in case you feel left out)
Boo-yah. An ode written on a happy day, the 1st day I've seen the sun rise in far far too long.
I love coming back from vacation with a clear head and happy heart.

Here I am chillin in the zen garden eating some mentos. Ah peace and prosperity :) I've just returned to Tokyo from Kyoto (wow those places have the same 5 letters in them rearranged?), and I thought I'd throw a teaser picture or two up there. Now I've just got 3 more days or so to burn, I figure to spend them drinking, bathing, and shopping for japanese shizzle. Send me email I love to hear from yas, peace out!

I'm heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere! Had only minimal troubles, in that my ATM card no workie -- so I had to do a monstruous credit card cash advance, but it's done and I'll pay it off upon my return home. Met up with Mandy at Shinjuku and we caught the train back to her apartment in Chofu. Now I'm gonna grab a shower cause I feel naaaaaaaaaaasty due to all that plane sleeping. Tonight's agenda: Eating at a cafe in Shinjuku, watch a rugby game at a austrailian gaijin bar, and possibly a club later. OK peace out!

I don't know how the hell I'm gonna navigate this city; but I can't wait to find out! Here's the game plan. Leaving Austin late tonight after some college football games, should arrive in San Antonio around 11pm, where I will proceed to find Jessica (Scott's g/f) and stay with her that night. Well not really, just going to watch TV and read books while she sleeps; and hopefully I can stay awake long enough to stave off the 1/2 day jet lag. Leaving San Antonio airport at 7:40am, puddlejumper to Dallas, then the long flight to Tokyo Narita which arrives noonish on Sept 3rd (Tokyo time). From there I plan on either grabbing a train from the airport to 'Shinjuku' and then a bus to 'Chofu' -- Chofu is the place where Mandy lives. For my own personal information in case i lose this sticky note: mandy lives at #one-oh-five Lions Mansion, 3-79-1 Kojimacho / Chofu-Shi / Tokyo-to / 182-0026 (zip code) / cell is oh-eight-oh-three-one-five-five-one-five-seven-eight, and her home is oh-four-two-four-eight-nine-four-four-eight-zero. I'll give her a ring once I'm in the neighborhood and then plan the rest from there.
Stay tuned for live travel updates anytime after late Saturday night! (US time) I love all my 'lazy american' friends, and I will be thinking of you all! PEACE OUT!
